Fully Caught Up in the Vampire Craze?

New Moon has been released, and you faithfully stood in line for the midnight screening. You've invested in the various Twilight makeup collections, and you have your Team Edward t-shirt. All you're missing at this point is the jewels, baby.

You're ready for Demitasse Jewelry. The line starts at $36 and goes upwards of $110.

Visit them at DemitasseJewelry.com. Be sure to check out the amazing Demitasse collection - there are so many things there that I absolutely covet - and the story behind them is interesting:

LA-based designer Rachael White established her fine jewelry line, Demitasse, in 2006. French for half-cup and an emblem of privilege, Demitasse reinvents the opulence of antique tableware and serving pieces into fine jewelry of gold, diamonds and sapphires. In early 2000, while sitting in a doctor’s waiting room, Rachael stumbled upon an article about antique silverware that sparked her interest. After months of researching flatware she became convinced people had forgotten what it meant to entertain at home and that food is a luxury that should be cherished as it once was.

Quick and Painless Wardrobe Update: Marina Makaron Scarves

I adore scarves, and tend to wear them more in the cooler weather than I do in the warmer months. I know that scarves have been a bit played out lately, but I don't think that a classic scarf will ever truly go out of style.

Marina Makaron Moscow makes some absolutely gorgeous scarves, and the best part is that they come directly from one of my favorite places in the entire world: Moscow. Many of the prints (especially in the Home Collection) appear to be based on traditional Russian art and Eastern European folklore, which I find especially beautiful.

The Silk Fantasies collection is available in both oblong and square shapes and run anywhere from $155 to $195. The Silk Chiffon collection is light and airy, with abstract floral shapes, and are available for $180.

Unfortunately, these are only available in a few select boutiques in Pennsylvania, and of course in Moscow. However, you can email them directly for more product information.

Fashion for Autism: La Vie En Rose by Edwing D'Angelo

Columbian-born fashion designer Edwing D'Angelo is sponsoring Fashion for Autism: Be Significant "Raising Awareness".

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASP) is one in a group of series of developmental problems that appear in early years of childhood, usually before age 3. Although symptoms and severity vary, all autism disorders affect a child’s ability to communicate and interact with others. Families of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis may feel hopeless and trapped and need to be aware that there are competent services in their communities that can educate and assist in creating an atmosphere that will create a higher quality of life for their child/children.

Fashion's Night Out Returns for 2010

I had an amazing time at Fashion's Night Out this past September. I ran around NYC with Paula of Older Girl Beauty, and while we got lost somewhere in Chelsea, we managed to make the most of our night. Hopefully she'll hang out with me in 2010, because they are doing FNO again!

From the press release:

New York, New York-October 29, 2009-Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and NYC & Company-the city's marketing, tourism and partnerships organization-today announced the return of Fashion's Night Out (FNO) on September 9, 2010.  Coming off the successful first-ever Fashion's Night Out for the City, next year's event will look to continue to support the fashion and retail industries across the five boroughs.  A key focus for 2010 will be to attract new participants in addition to the more than 800 stores that took part in this year's event and to provide a boost to the overall economy.  Next year's event will again be marked by events and promotions across City stores featuring some of the fashion and retail industries top designers and leaders.

"The numbers are in, and it's clear that Fashion's Night Out was a tremendous success," said Mayor Bloomberg.  "Thousands of New Yorkers attended the events in all five boroughs, supporting the City's retail and fashion industries and helping a worthwhile cause. It's sure to be an even bigger event in 2010."

"We were absolutely bowled over by the response to Fashion's Night Out. It was only fifteen minutes after the event began and we were getting reports about lines around the block at stores throughout the city," said Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour. "It was wonderful to see people embrace this initiative, and we are thrilled that they wish it to return."

Fashion's Night Out successfully raised awareness for fashion and helped build consumer confidence-with thousands of people joining the festivities at stores including Barneys New York, Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue and Payless ShoeSource.  An independent study conducted by ShopperTrak, estimated a 50% increase in retail foot traffic and NYC & Company's own post-event survey of 1,300 consumers reported 75% purchased merchandise during FNO.

"Shopping and fashion have long been a staple of the New York City experience," said NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta.  "Fashion's Night Out gave us all the opportunity to enjoy ourselves and support something that is quintessentially New York.  We look forward to the return of FNO in 2010, and are ready to rally the City and the industry once again for this important program."

"To have designers in stores to celebrate and start a shopping season is the best idea for everybody," said designer Diane von Furstenberg.  "It creates excitement and lots of business!"

The NYC & Company survey also reported that two-thirds of consumers questioned visited stores they had never been to before and 61% visited neighborhoods outside of their work and residential areas.

Be sure to check out the official FNO website at http://www.fashionsnightout.com/, and they have a Twitter account too: search for @FNONYC to keep up with all the news.
