NYFW: Daniel Vosovic Unveils First Complete Ready to Wear Collection

Project Runway alum Daniel Vosovic presented his first full ready to wear collection February 11 at Exit Art in New York City for Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week.

Vosovic found his inspiration during a late night summer stroll through Washington Square Park in New York City. The designer developed the concept of his collection by observing the effects of time and the elements on various statues and sculptures and exploring the notion of creative destruction. Vosovic created completely original prints and embroideries derived from studying the aging process of oxidized copper, broken marble, and other materials in various stages of transformation.  The inspiration was communicated throughout the presentation space by dim ambient lights, models posed strongly on stark white pedestals, and a sweeping nature film projected on the walls made by young film makers Porter Panther (www.porterpanther.com). Through the use of tailored separates with digitally printed satins, richly colored suede, and flowing dresses, Vosovic was able to capture the essence of a quiet wide open park-like space filled with strong artistic silhouettes. Vosovic casted all Asian models to present his collection to the public as one cohesive form and add a striking consistency to the overall effect.
